2/45 Poolbank.

GV II

Large farmhouse: c1820. Stuccoed brick and stone dressings, hipped
Welsh slate roof, 2 brick chimneys. Double-pile plan. 2-storey
symmetrical 3-bay west front. Plinth, sill bands at each floor and
moulded cornice. End bays are segmental through both floors,
tripartite sashes with glazing bars below, 16-pane sashes above, both
recessed. Central bay has detached Tuscan porch on 3 stone steps with
heavy entablature. Half-glazed door behind is flanked by marginal
lights and has an elliptical fanlight with glazing bars. South front
is of 3 storeys and gives access from farmyard to extensive cellar
range of dairies etc.
Interior: Entrance into the hall with an elliptical arch over stair
with plain balusters, curving mahogany handrail and bracketted open
string. Ovolo frieze and medallion and acanthus border to ceiling.
Drawing room to left has basalt fireplace with plain detached columns
and ceiling border of vines. Dining room to right has antheimion
freize and a modern grate. Reeded doorcases with plain corners and
6-panelled grained doors throughout. Similar reeded architraves to
windows which have panelled shutters.
