5/12 Horsley Lane Farmhouse
Farmhouse. Dated 1664/WWM on window (formerly door) lintel. Timber
framed with whitewashed brick infill and slate roof. Two storeys.
Entrance front: 6 x 3 cells of small framing with angle braces to
left, right and centre. Three 2-light casements to ground floor and
2 gabled 2-light windows to first floor with a C20 brick rebuilding at
left with a cambered headed 2-light casement window and brickwork
painted in simulation of timber framing. There is a 2-light gabled
dormer window to the right and a 3-light similar window above the
join between the C17 walling and that of this century. Lean-to C19
timber-framed addition at right. Rear: Small framing to whole of
rear wall largely obscured by later outshuts.
The building suffered from a fire in c.1920 and the damaged
timber-framed walling was renewed in brick.
