C14 open hall with solar. Walls substantially altered in C19. Timber frame replaced
by local brick, rendered. C19 slate roof to original crown-post roof. One storey and
attics. Two dormers. Modern doorway and fenestration.

Interior: the mortices for the original shuttered window to the solar are visible in
the wall plate. All rafters are complete and some smoke blackened, but the crown post
and collar purlin have been removed. The scarf joint in the wall plate of the east
wall is edge halved and bridle butted with a wooden key. (This cottage is similar to
No 88 Great Whyte, Ramsey which has recently been recorded and excavated. The results
of this excavation are to be published shortly).
