TL 0475 BYTHORN AND KEYSTON BYTHORN

19/31 Byfield Cottage

GV II

House. Early C16 with C17 alterations, partly demolished for C19 addition.
Timber-framed and plastered, brick, and brick casing painted. Thatched roofs.
Original cottage of one storey with attic, three unit plan with open hall and
single storey rear wing formerly the dairy to north of C19 two storey range.
C19 door with four-flush panels to left hand, three ground floor three-light
casement windows and one replacing a doorway to right hand. Two eyebrow
dormer windows and two first floor casement windows. C19 range with corbelled
parapet gable and sawtooth brick eaves cornice. Interior: C17 inserted floor
frame with stop-chamfered ceiling beam, original C16 roof with ridge piece and
smoke blackened rafters. C19 floor tiles.
