Pair of houses. Probably 1840s. Plymouth limestone rubble with
painted limestone dressings to the openings; steep roofs with
coped attic gables: dry slate to No.4 (left), asbestos slate
to No.3; dressed stone outbuilt end stacks and gable kneelers.
Tudor Gothic style. Double-depth plan with paired entrance
halls to centre.
2 storeys plus attic over cellar; overall symmetrical 4-window
front. Mullioned windows with hoodmoulds under relieving
arches (mullions removed to No.3); original hornless sashes to
No.4. Ground floor has 3-light windows; 1st floor has 2-light
windows, and attic has single lights. Central pair of
4-centred arched doorways with sunk spandrels, No.4 with
original mullioned overlight.
INTERIOR: not inspected but No.4 is said to have a virtually
complete interior.
With Nos 1 and 2 (qv) these make a complete and distinguished
example of a semi-detached villa design in the Picturesque
