GV II

House formerly the farmhouse to Clear's Farm. Early C17 extended and altered
c.1810. Gault brick, low pitched slated roof, timber-framed and plastered and
plain tiled roof. Two storeys and basement to main west elevation, rear wing
formerly the hall and cross wing of the original C17, H-plan house. West
elevation: Symmetrical three 'bay' facade. Entrance approached by steps with
five reed-panelled door and cast iron patterned fan light in recessed round
headed brick arch. Two recessed twelve-paned hung sash windows with flat
brick arches and painted reveals; three similar first floor windows. Two
stacks and rear stacks. Interior: Some exposed timber-frame of original
building and stack incorporated into later plan. Good early C19 details
include open string staircase with fret balusters and panelled doors and
shuttered windows. Some two-panelled C18 doors.
