Church of St Nectan

A Grade I Listed Building in Hartland, Devon

Church of St Nectan, Hartland, North Devon

The date of construction, C. 1360, coincides with the height of England's wool trade. The nearby port of Barnstaple was licensed to export wool in the 14th century. The unusually large St Nectan's is almost certainly a Wool Church, paid for by rich wool merchants.
