Hasell-Sparkes monument approx 3m N
of Chancel of Church of St Peter &
St Paul

Chest tomb. c1824. Ashlar. Recessed fluted pilaster at each
corner with sloping shaft, moulded cap and base set on plinth,
lid with quadruple bead moulded edge, weathered top slab. On
long north face is a raised oval panel with inscription which
reads "Sacred to the memory of Mrs Mary Hasell, died 2nd May
1824 aged 81 years". Remainder of inscription illegible. On
other side inscription commemorates the Sparkes family,
William Sparkes and Elizabeth Rachel Sparkes aged 70,
inscription otherwise illegible. The monument formerly had an
iron railed enclosure. Random broken stones to plinth and some
ivy and vegetation growth.
