07/08/52 No.18
(Formerly Listed as:

House; part of the upper storeys now divided off as a separate
flat. C16/C17 with early C19 alterations. Timber-framed and
roughcast rendered; slate roof with a wide plain eaves
cornice.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys and cellar (part of which is accessible
only from No.19 (qv)). 2 window range: 16-pane sashes to the
1st storey, 12-pane to the 2nd storey and a single vertical
glazing-bar to the ground storey, all in cased frames. A
6-panel door with the top panels glazed has a moulded wood
architrave and a flat cornice. A section of applied mock
timbering to the centre of the upper storeys. A 2-storey early
C19 rear extension is rendered externally and the
shallow-pitched roof has concrete single roman tiles.
INTERIOR: a deep cellar below the northern half of the
building is a continuation of that accessible only from No.19.
Much reused stone in 3 of the walls; ceiling with a large main
beam and narrow early C19 joists. The front ground-storey room
has substantial cross-beams exposed in the ceiling, one with
mortices for a former partition, which implies that the frame
continued into No.19 initially. A plain C19 stair has stick
balusters.
