Canal toll house, now house. Early C19 with C20 alterations.
Red brick with graduated slate roof which is hipped to north end
and has two brick ridge stacks, plus dentilled eaves band. Two
storeys and two bays with canted end to north on to the canal.
West front has two large segment headed windows with 2-light C20
casements to south and a smaller, similar blocked window to
north with a C20 glazed door below segment head beyond. Above
there are three C20 windows, two to north, both single light and
southern one 2-light. Canted north elevation has segment headed
openings to all sides, that to front with C20 2-light window and
those to angled sides, blocked. Above, flat headed, openings to
all sides, again those to angled walls blocked and that to front
with C20 window. Built as part of the Trent and Mersey Canal.
