Shops, former house, C16 or earlier, timber framed and plastered. 2 storeys
with gabled peg tile roof part concealed behind parapet on front. Long 2 storey
range at rear with concrete plain tile gabled roof. Gable to rear of No. 1
and parallel roofed gabled block with slate roofing. Ridge line, off-centre
brick stack. Street front has, on first floor, 4 double hung sash windows,
with small panes and moulded surrounds. Ground floor has carriage arch gaining
access to yard of Saracens Head, with Doric pilasters and flat entablature over.
C20 recessed shopfront, but with early C19 canted bay incorporated, with small
panes. No. 3 has C19 projecting shopfront with scroll bracket to support N
corner. Rear range has mixture of old casements, a horizontal sliding sash
with small panes and double hung sashes. Remnants of old pargetting and ridge
line stack. Interior shows some exposed framing suggestive of a SE crosswing
and hall with inserted hall and further crosswing to NW.
