Ballidonhall Farmhouse

II

Farmhouse. C17, C18 and early C19. Coursed rubble limestone with gritstone
dressings. Plain tile roofs with stone coped gables to main range. Brick gable
end stacks. T-plan, rear wing lower. Two and three storeys, with quoins. West
elevation remodelled in the early C19. Three bays. Central doorway with round
arch. Stone surround with projecting imposts and keystone. C20 glazed door
with fanlight above. Flanked on each side by glazing bar sashes with stone
surrounds. Three similar windows above. Evidence of the C17 house in the north
and south gable ends. North gable end has high up two 2-light recessed chamfer
mullion windows with dripmoulds. Two blocked single lights above. The south gable
end has four tiers of blocked windows and one recessed chamfered light to the
second floor. Rear wing has on the north side two C18 3-light square sectioned
mullion windows.
