Former mill house. C17, gentrified mid C18. Small ashlar blocks;
slate roof; ashlar stack. Rectangular main body with a stairs
projection to the rear, further extension at right angles rear
right; stable with loft over at the right gable end of the main
body. House: 2 storeys and attic; 6-windowed almost symmetrical
front lit by 16-pane sashes with wide glazing bars within dressed
stone architraves with keystones; 8-pane sashes with similar
surrounds far right; a continuous dripmould over the ground floor
windows is stepped up over a deep stone lintel over the C18 five-
panelled door which retains its original knocker and handle. Two
blocked windows to the ground and first floors of the left gable
end; 3-light C19 stone-mullioned casement inserted within a
blocked doorway. Single-light windows with flat-chamfered
surrounds to the stairs projection at the rear. Extension at right
angles at rear: 2-light stone-mullioned casement to the ground
floor; 12-pane sash with a dressed stone architrave and keystone
to the upper floor. Stable block: C18 five-panelled door with the
two upper panels glazed far left, set within a C20 reconstituted
stone surround; double garage doors then a stable door. Shuttered
pitching window over the garage door, fixed 3-light window to the
right. Axial stack.
Interior: beams with deep flat chamfers and moulded stops; fine
C18 shell-headed alcove flanked by fluted pilasters, in the front
left-hand room set within the blocking of the former gable end
window; small C18 dressed stone fireplace with lugged panel above
and fielded dado in an upstairs room. C18 six-panelled doors.
