Well head gear and housing in garden of Westmill (q.v.). Mid to late
C19. Iron and timber mechanism on a small timber frame with lower brick
infill and a small tiled gabled head. The well head winding gear is hand
operated with a large outer handle turning a small cogwheel on the lower
axle engaging a larger cog wheel on the upper axle which has a central
timber wheel with iron plates over which passes the lifting rope.
