11/84 Bibury Primary School
GV II
Formerly National school, now primary school. 1845; enlarged
1872. Coursed rubble limestone; ashlar chimneys; stone slate
roof. Main east-west range; rear wing to north. South front:
earliest part to right has 2-window fenestration, mullioned and
transomed to ground floor, 2-light above. Central doorway with 4-
panel door. Tall ridge-mounted chimneys with crenellated tops
at east end indicate original ends of building. Three large
mullioned and transomed school windows to enlargement to left.
Off-centre parapet gabled ashlar porch with Tudor arched doorway
and plank door. Rear: west-facing gable with chimney to rear
wing; lean-to below with altered shouldered arched openings.
Later C19 extension has further chimney gable above 2 tall
transomed casements. Interior not inspected. Forms part of
important group with church.
