11/98 House approximately 10m west
of Jasmine Cottage
GV II
Detached house. Early-mid C17; C19 addition. Random rubble
limestone, some red brick; brick rebuilt chimney; plain tile
roof, Welsh slate to outbuilding. Two-storey; outbuildings to
north west and south east ends. South west front: 2-window
fenestration 2-light recessed chamfered upper floor casements with
hoodmoulds formerly in half gables. Central single stair light.
Three-light recessed chamfered casements with hoodmoulds and
relieving arches to ground floor, left partially altered to doorway
with C19 4-panel door, right with lower sill. Central ridge-
mounted chimney; roof pitch reduced with brick building-up between
former gables. Outbuilding to north west, now part of adjoining
property, formed stable with loft. Single-storey C19 outbuilding
to south east end has low-pitched gable, central casement with
rendered lintel and doorway with stone lintel and 4-panel door to
right. Interior not inspected. Formerly occupied by blacksmith
from adjacent forge (q.v.).
