Terrace of 8 houses. 1766-67, altered. Built for Jacob Leroux,
architect.
EXTERIOR: 4 storeys. 2 windows each.
No.19: C19 & C20 refacing. Stucco ground floor with 1st floor
band. Wooden doorcase with pilasters carrying entablature and
broken pediment; radial patterned fan and panelled door. Red
brick flat arches to recessed 4-pane sash windows (4th floor
blind). Parapet.
No.20: refaced early C19; tuck pointed multi-coloured stock
brick; stucco ground floor with 1st floor band. Wooden
doorcase with console bracketed hood; rectangular fanlight and
panelled door. Brick segmental arches (ground floor
square-headed) to recessed 4-pane sash windows. Parapet.
No.21: C19 and C20 refacing. Stucco ground floor with 1st
floor band. Wooden doorcase with bracketed hood; rectangular
fanlight and panelled door. Brick flat arches to recessed C20
windows. Parapet.
No.22: stucco front with 1st floor band. Wooden doorcase with
bracketed hood; rectangular fanlight and panelled door. Ground
floor windows C20, 1st & 2nd floor recessed 12-pane sashes;
3rd floor 8-pane recessed sashes. Parapet.
Nos 23 & 24: C20 refacing in pale brick with dark pointing;
stucco ground floors with 1st floor band. No.23, C19 plain
wooden doorcase; rectangular fan and panelled door. No.24, C20
wooden doorcase with rudimentary pilasters supporting
rudimentary entablature; rectangular fan and panelled door.
Gauged red brick flat arches to recessed, mostly C20 windows.
Ground floor of No.23, a single C20 window. Parapets.
No.25: darkened multi-coloured stock brick, 3rd floor refaced
C20. Stucco ground floor with 1st floor band. Wooden doorcase
with pilasters carrying entablature; rectangular fan. Gauged
brick flat arches to C20 windows. Parapet.
No.26: stucco with early C20 ground floor commercial premises.
Architraved sashes; 1st & 3rd floor with bracketed sills.
Continuous sill band at 2nd floor. Parapet.
INTERIORS: not inspected.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: attached cast-iron railings with torch
flambe, urn or foliated finials.
