Gates to Stradsett Hall, including railings

Gate piers, gates and railings. Mid C18. Gault brick and wrought iron. 2 square section piers on stepped plinths with flat moulded cornice upon which stand fluted ashlar urns. Fillets with scrolled tops support central gates in 3 parts, the centre section hinged. Square section verticals between unadorned square stiles. Inner 2 verticals of side panels with scrolled and square panel decoration running full height. Bottom panels with dog rail of pointed arrowheads. Lockrail adorned by pair of bifurcating S scrolls in each of 3 parts. Continuous square section top rail upon which is ramped scrolled overthrow of running repoussée sheet acanthus. To left and right are further gate piers of similar design but of lower height and with ball finials on incurving square plinths. Between main and subsidiary piers are elaborated railings matching centre gates. Square section railings on brick plinth lead right and left to terminate in brick piers identical to subsidiary gate piers.
From western pier ramped brick walling returns towards house and is also included.
