FREDERICK STREET 1. 5104 Hockley B1 No 27 and 27A SP 0687 NW 24/11 II GV 2. C1830 former pair of town houses, subsequently altered to jewellry quarter offices with shopping extending into rear ranges. An effective well proportioned symmetrical Greek Revival design with 4 bay 3 storey main block flanked by narrow 2 storey entrance bays, all stucco faced. The main block projects slightly with an engaged Greek Doric colonnade of coupled fluted columns and deep entablature across the ground floor and returned over entrance bays. Second floor sill band in the form of entablature with guttae underpinning to projecting sills. Quoin pilasters to this floor and string course broken forward as cornice over the windows. Dentils to main cornice and crowning parapet. Ground floor sash windows in plain reveals; architrave surrounds to windows on upper floors, those on first floor with full entablatures. Doorways in flanking bays, have splayed, eared architrave surrounds; the right hand doorway is now a garage entrance. A consistently detailed unaltered flank Doric elevation and as such a rare survival in the jewellry quarter and indeed the city centre.
