Row of 4 almshouses. 1864 on central datestone. Built for G. Byng, 2nd
Earl of Strafford. English bond red brick, cement rendered dressings,
slate roof. 1 storey. 6 bays: 2 paired entrances with flanking windows.
Chamfered surrounds and keystone blocks to timber doors with decorative
hinges. Timber gabled porches on brick bases, wavy bargeboards. 2 light
glazing bar casements with quoined jambs and cornices to lintels.
Plinth. Simple rendered cornice to close eaves. Quoins at return ends.
Large central stack and 2 smaller end stacks all with diagonally set
bricks below cornices. Extended to rear. Interior not inspected.
Forecourt wall about 1 m high with pyramidal heads to piers flanking
entrances, semi-circular top course.
