Barn. Early C17. Timber frame on red brick sill, dark
weatherboarded with a steep half-hipped roof now of corrugated
iron. A tall 4-bay single-aisled barn facing N into courtyard
with aisle on S. Double doors on N side of 2nd bay from W and
small winnowing door to rear. Heavy jowled posts with long
curved braces to tie-beams and arcade plate which has a face-
halved bladed scarf joint over each post. Inclined queen-posts
support a single purlin in each slope in the clasped purlin roof.
Mid-height rails in walls, tennoned in-line. The oldest building
in the courtyard group.
