Block of 4 houses. C18, renovated c.1856 by Brownlow Estate extending S
house (No. 1) as schoolmistress's house. Red brick and steep red tiled
roofs, half-hipped at S. A block of 2-storeys and part attics houses set
back from road facing E, with rear outshuts under catslide roofs. No. 1
has added rear parlour with small canted bay window on S with cast-iron
lattice casements echoing that of S end of school. 2 large square
internal chimneys serve the 4 houses. Each house has 2 1st floor windows
and a larger ground floor window next the gabled open porch to the plank
door. Yorkshire sliding casements with lattice leading, 2-light above,
3-light below. 2 small rear gabled dormers light attics. Interiors have
chamfered tie-beams exposed and stud partitions infilled with brick.
