Little Wood End Cottages

House, now 2 houses. Early C17 or earlier, extended and divided in C19.
Timber frame exposed at rear of No. 1 with red brick infill, red
tilehanging at front, red brick ground floor, plum brick casing to N-S
range. Steep half-hipped old red tile roofs. A Z-shaped 1 1/2-storeys house
sub-divided in the middle of the N-S range, N part No. 1, S part No. 2.
Casement windows with cast iron frames. Large C17 chimney stack at
junction of W wing to main N-S range with 2 conjoined square shafts in
Z-plan and moulded cap. Straight-brace and exposed framing in N wall of
this W wing. Clasped-purlin roof with straight windbraces and
squint-butted Scarf joint in wallplate. Large 3-centred chamfered arched
brick open fireplace on 1st floor of N-S range. Gabled dormers to No. 2
on W and on lower E wing.
