House. Late C16 N range, incorporating late medieval bay at E. Inserted
floor and chimney of early C17, and taller early C18 S wing. Timber
frame on brick sill, red brick infill and walls to S wing, painted brick
infill on N front. Steep old red tile roofs. An L-shaped house facing N,
of 1½ storeys with 2 storeys and attic S wing. N front has regular
square panels of timber framing, 2 gabled dormers, 2 casement windows
and a boarded door into W bay. Large internal chimney in E bay serving
middle bay. 2 bays remain of original house, both once open to the roof.
Floor beams and joists in both bays appear of same date. E bay the hall,
W bay probably parlour and store room. House probably extended further
to E but removed when rear S wing built leaving cross passage preserved
as a store room. (RCHM Typescript).
