SO 96 NW DODFORD WITH GRAFTON CP

Barn and stable. C18 with mid-C19 and mid-C20 alterations and additions.
Timber-framed and weatherboarded on sandstone and brick base with brick
replacement walling and additions; corrugated iron and plain tiled roofs.
Four framed bays aligned east/west; wagon bay situated in third bay from
west end has opposed cart entries with gabled midstrey to south side.
Interior: long rectangular panels from sill to wall-plate, long straight
braces across lower corners, collar and tie-beam trusses with two struts
at west end and with two raking struts in case of intermediate truss; single
tier of trenched purlins. C19 lean-to additions flank midstrey on south
side, each having two windows. Stable adjoins east gable end; C19; two levels
with cogged eaves cornice; 3½ bays; south elevation has two blocked doorways
with cambered heads add inserted 8-pane windows, a stable door with a cambered
head and a loft opening. The barn and stable are prominently sited facing the
main elevation of West Lodge (qv) and enclosing the farmyard to the north.
