The Cottage

GV II

Farmhouse. C18. Squared sandstone rubble and brick with sandstone dressings.
Welsh slate roofs with half-hip to south. Brick stacks. Roughly square plan.
Two storeys. East elevation has three windows, 3-light late C18 or early C19
casements. Ground floor windows are similar but have severely cambered dressed
sandstone heads. Plat band between floors. Doorway, slightly off-centre, has
ledged early C19 door with light. Left-hand return has dentilled brick eaves
cornice. Interior has single-lfight staircase with wreathed handrail and stick
balusters. Sandstoned arched fireplace to northern principal room. (RCHM, Vol
II, p 48).
