SU 62 NW BRAMDEAN CHURCH LANE

6/6 Manor House
5.12.55 (formerly listed as Bramdean
GV II Manor)

Small country house. c 1740, late C18, remodelled C20. Brick, old plain tile
roof. 5 bay by 5 bay block, with late C18 full height bays. N front now 3 bays,
2 storeys and attic on raised basement. Central doorway approached by a wide
double flight of stone steps with wrought iron balustrade and scroll panel standards.
C18 6-panel door with semi-circular radiated and curved fanlight in doorcase of
engaged Corinthian columns supporting broken entablature and open pediment. Each
side full height late C18 angular bays. Casements to basements, elsewhere C18
12-pane sashes with rubbed brick arches. Ground and 1st floor string courses,
moulded cornice on raised brickwork and panelled parapet. Roof hipped mansard
with central valley. Symmetrical chimneys behind ridge. Interior remodelled C20.
Attached to left end screen wall,ramped up to house and curved with piers, panels
in wall with rubbed brick arches and C18 internal door used in doorway.
