II

Gatehouse to the former Wonford House Lunatic Asylum (qv). 1865 by W F Cross. Uncoursed stone with ashlar dressings. Slated roof with tall stone chimney stack and coped Flemish gables with ball finials. L-shaped plan with porch in the angle. Single storey. Round-arched doorway with large keystone: flanked by brackets supporting a pediment; a blind arch on the return. Facing the drive, a canted bay window with enriched plaque above the roof; facing the road a 2-1ight transom and mullion window.
