Description

TM 48 SE FROSTENDEN

1/9 Nuttall Farmhouse
-
- II

Farmhouse. Early C16. Timber framed and plastered, pantiled roof. 2
storeys. 3 cell form, originally with cross-passage entry. Various C19 and
C20 casement and sash windows; boarded half-door to rear. Internal stack and
a smaller stack at the service end. Some timbering is exposed internally: the
frame is heavy, with widely-spaced studs and tension-bracing at the gable
ends. The open truss at first floor level has heavy arched-braces and
supports a queen post roof, although it seems likely that much of the original
roof is missing. Good plank and muntin screen, removed from its original
position against the cross-passage and divided into 2 sections.
