4/81 Barn immediately to the
- west of Bacon's Barn

GV II

Barn. C16 core, with early C18 extensions and reroofing. Timber-framed; part
weatherboarded, part rendered; red brick gable ends; corrugated iron roof. A
full height porch extends on the west side. Frame in 4 bays, with the
northernmost bay an addition. Part of the interior formerly had an upper
floor, now removed, but some upper diamond-mullioned windows remain. The
brick in the south gable is laid in English Bond, and replaces a timber-framed
wall. Roof in 5 bays: ridge, 2 rows of slightly stepped butt purlins and
straight windbraces; bolted knees replace the long arched braces to the
trusses. The porch is also a C18 addition. Included for Group Value.
