1877-9 by Norman Shaw. Large house. Stone ground floor, fish-scale tile hanging
above with 3 sham timber frame projecting gables on brackets. Tiled roof. 3 storeys.
3 windows. Large stone mullion/transom windows to ground floor, wooden above.
1st floor oversails on brackets. Right-hand 1st and 2nd floor canted bay under
projecting gable. Left-hand return gabled. Tall brick chimney stacks with diagonally
set brick shafts. Right-hand return facing Quarry Hill - wide 1st and 2nd floor
overhangs with sham timber framing and gabled with long 10-light 1st floor window
band. Below, ground floor moulded pointed arch entrance. Drawings at Royal Academy.
