Cattle shelter. Late C18. Coursed stone with ashlar quoins and
Welsh slate roof with grey ridge tiles. One storey, 3 bays. 3
Tudor-arched openings have irregular block jambs and voussoirs
with small keystones. Ledged boarded door in 3rd arch, others
empty. Hipped roof. Returns have small square vent openings
with flat stone lintels.
INTERIOR shows bracket-shaped painted wood manger in
north-west corner; 4 niches, possibly for lamps, flank
doorways. In a prominent position looking south over Auckland
Castle Park towards the Bishop Auckland-Durham road.
