to left of Netherhampton House


GV II

Gates, front railings and return walls with attached piers, and
walling to left. c1720. Cast iron central gates and railings on
brick dwarf walls with stone weathered coping, return walls and
wall to left are English bond brick with weathered stone coping,
attached to sides of railings are finely gauged brick piers in
English bond on stone plinth with corniced stone top and fine
carved stone urn finials. Gates have segmental-arched tops with
wrought iron overthrow with central quartered arms of Gauntlett and
Fry family, also in wrought iron. Probably the work of Gauntlet
Fry (died 1746) and contemporary with the front facade of
Netherhampton House. An imposing entrance.
