Canal milestone. c1830 for Macclesfield Canal Company. Ashlar sandstone- tooled and shaped to
head. South face inscribed: "From /Marple/ 23 /Miles". The north face is inscribed: From / Hall
Green/ 3 1/4 Miles. NB One in a fine series ofmilestones, and distance markers (also bridges) on
the Macclesfield Canal.
