1848, by William Back for the Metropolitan Association for Improving the Dwellings
of the Poor. One of the earliest extant examples of artisan flats. Stock brick
with stucco eaves band, cornice and blocking course. Bands at 1st and 3rd floor
height. Deal Street facade 5 storeys and basement, 5 bays, of which centre 3
are slightly advanced. Centre 3 light, sash windows flanked by casements,then
outer sashes. Underwood Street facade, 17 windows,end and centre bays slightly
advanced. Paired alternate ranks of sashes and casements.

Nos 20 to 35 (consec) Albert Cottages with Nos 7 to 20 (consec) Victoria
Cottages, form a group, with Howard House and the Albert Family Dwellings,
of different types of C19 artisan housing. This group is also associated with
that on Underwood Road.
