Erected 1796 with some later additions and alterations. Stock brick with white
stone dressings. Central entrance (rebuilt 1934) surmounted by entablature and
cornice bearing a plinth on which stand the arms of the East India Company, of
C18 date.
On either side advanced wings of 3 storeys with stone cornice and blocking course.
Band below 1st floor sill height. Stone plinth. Recessed arch extends from ground
level to above 1st floor window, that of western wing is blind. Windows of eastern
wing with flat stone lintels and sills, glazing bars intact. Stone banding continues
over further eastern and western wings which were originally, probably, of 1 storey
but now altered and height increased. At back, higher gabled ends of warehouse
visible.
