Kibworth Harcourt Mill

II*

Windmill. Dated 1711, restored C20. Postmill with red brick round-house
and timber-framed body covered with weather boarding. Round-house has 4
small brick buttresses, 2 doors and 2 boarded 1-light windows. The body has
2-leaved part stable type door up long flight of open wooden steps. Restored
wooden sails and tail pole. The body inside has close studding and chamfered
timbers, wooden machinery, and 2 sets of millstones. The main post is
inscribed 'Daniel Hutchinson, Miller, 1711.' V.C.H., Vol. V, Pevsner and
Moon, N., The Windmills of Leicestershire and Rutland, Wymondham, 1981, p40.
Scheduled ancient monument.
