North aspect. Built c1700 for Edward Wells, rector and professor of Geography, Ancient History and Mathematics at Oxford. Remodelled and extended in 1720 for John Farshaw, professor of Greek at Oxford. The house was bought by the Marriott family in 1750. Service wing added in circa 1880 by Charles Marriott. Major R A Marriott dwelling here when Pevsner visited, 1950s. (Photo Mar 2009).
