Church of St James the Greater

A Grade II Listed Building in Charley, Leicestershire

Church of St James the Greater, Oaks in Charnwood

Uploader's Comments

The parish name of Charley may be interpreted as Charn Ley, or quern (mill stone) meadow. The church is built on an outcrop of Charnwood granite. The curved structure on the right is the stair turret for the tower. (Photo Apr 2008).
