26.7.1951 Worden Park
(Formerly listed as Entrance Gates and
GV II Worth Lodge under Wordon Park)

Gateway and entrance lodge, early C19. All ashlar. Round headed arch with
scrolled keystone flanked by Doric demi-columns bearing a plain
entablature with prominent moulded cornice and stepped parapet. Plinth and
impost string, between which all masonry (in common with the voussoirs) is
vermiculated. Between this and the lodge is a postern gate with rusticated
splayed head and jambs. Lodge is classical in style; T-plan, the longer
side fronting the drive; single storey, pedimented gables, low-pitched
slate roofs with overhanging bracketed eaves, a chimney rising from the
junction; rusticated quoins, sashed windows with glazing bars and architraves.
