Almshouses, reputedly 1649, removed and rebuilt 1849 (see below). Brick,
stone plinth, stone dressings, red sandstone quoins, slate roof. Six
dwellings, 4 in central range, 2 others in projecting gabled wings, all of
one storey. Two pairs of ridge chimneys in main range, one chimney stack
at junction of roofs at each end. Four boarded doors, all with ornamental
iron hinges and studs, 2 in the centre and one at each end of main range,
and all with red sandstone quoins and chamfered stone lintels. On each
side of central doorways are two 3-light windows built together as a
single 6-light stone mullioned window. Re-entrant walls have diaper
pattern of blue headers. Each wing has red sandstone quoins and a 6-light
stone mullioned window, the gable above decorated with black and white
timbering; and a door in the return wall. Rear: continuous outshut with
cat slide roof to main range. Stone plaque over middle doors:

Above other doors are sandstone tablets carved with coats of arms, all
different.
