House. C16 or earlier, altered C16 to C19. Timber framed, part
exposed with roughcast infill, underbuilt by red brick and flanked by
brick-clad wings. Plain tiled roof. Hall house origin, possibly a
Wealden plan. Two storeys, on plinth, in part of ragstone, with jetty
to central 2 framed bays. The brickwork to left hand wing is early
C18, the west probably C19. Hipped roof with gablets and stacks to
centre left, at end left and at end right. Four old leaded metal
casements on 1st floor, and 3 segmentally headed C20 metal casements
on ground floor. Half-glazed door to centre left. Two storey rear
wing. Interior: screens passage survives with one chamfered almost
round-arched doorway. Hollow chamfered dais beam with fillet. Tongue-
stopped chamfered ceiling beams (C16 insertion) ; blocked inglenook
fireplaces. Partly exposed tie beams, which may have taken crown posts,
although a possibly earlier roof and frame structure may survive, (aisled
or semi aisles?).
