CORSLEY CORSLEY VILLAGE ST 84 NW (west side) 7/78 Church of England School GV II Primary school. 1847. Coursed rubble stone, Welsh slate roof with coped verges with staddlestones, ashlar stack to right. T-plan, with school teacher's house attached to right. Single-storey school, 2-storey house. Gabled stone porch with diagonal buttresses and planked door with ornamental hinges in pointed chamfered doorway with inscription and foliated terminals to hoodmould, 2-light hollow-mullioned windows to left flank square bay with gable over. School house in cross wing to right has 2- light mullioned casement to ground and first floors. Right return has two 2-light mullioned casements. Later C19 wing to rear has brick bands and 3-light mullioned windows, lean-to porch with planked door to left, rear of main range has C20 flat roofed extensions. Interior retains ribbed or 4-panelled doors, C20 ceilings inserted in formerly open-roofed schoolrooms, but stone mask corbels to roof trusses visible below. The gift of the Marquess of Bath.
