COLESHILL CHURCH HILL SP2089-218i (North side) 10/7 No.9 (Devereaux House) 11/11/52 GV II House, now offices. Early C18 with alterations of the mid to late C19. Red brick; hipped plain ti1e roof brick ridge stacks. 2 storeys and attic with giant Ionic pilasters to the corners, and moulded bands to first floor and former eaves level; the roof was apparently raised in the C19 and now has bracketed oversailing eaves. 5 bays: 15-pane glazing bar sashes with gauged brick heads and panelled keys breaking into the moulded bands; 3 gabled dormers with glazing bar sashes. Late C19 canted bay window to ground floor right taking up the space of 3 bays and containing plate glass sashes with raised keys. C20 glazed door to left of centre with moulded wooden doorcase, flanked by Ionic pilasters. The door occupies the position of a former window of which the gauged head and keystone survive and its Ionic surround may have been removed here from its original, probably central, position when the aforementioned bay window was introduced. Early to mid C19 wing to the left. 2 storeys with plain pilaster strip to the left hand corner and plain coped parapet flush with the front wall. 2 bays: first floor glazing bar sashes with wedge-shaped lintels grooved as voussoirs, and raised keys. Late C19 four-light canted bay window to the left and a single-light window to the right. All are late C19 plate glass sashes with gauged brick heads and raised keys. Interior not inspected.
