Mansion. Late C17 and early C19. Stucco on brick, slate roofs. 2-
storey and attic. Central block of 5 bays in the early structure,
rendered plat band and raised quoins, now containing full length
hall. C17 wings attached to both sides, projecting 2 bays forward
and containing library and services. Parallel roofed rear block
with stair and reception rooms, probably early C19. Central broad
6-panel door in panelled reveals, up 4 steps within Roman Doric
portico with side balustrades. 15-pane sashes with stone sills.
Pilasters either side of portico rise to steep pitched pediment
above eaves level containing festoon and roundel. Dentilled eaves
cornice. 3 flat roofed dormers in hipped roof. Rear block early
C19, 12-pane sashes and canted bay to dining room and to side
elevation. Late C18 extension in brick to right, 3 bays, each with
hipped roof behind parapet and 2-light Gothick timber windows.
Interior: Hall has reset early C17 panelling with fluted
doorcases, timber fire surround and hardwood floor. 6-panel doors.
Drawing room to rear has plaster cornice and marble fireplace.
Panelled shutters to splayed window reveals.
