and gates to Adlington
Hall on east approach.

GV II

Gate piers, wing walls and gates: end piers C17, the remainder mid
Cl9. Ashlar buff and pink sandstone, iron gates and railings. End
piers stand on low moulded plinth and have a narrow bead mould on the
corners. Raised moulded band below projecting capstone which supports
on urn encrusted with acanthus and containing a stone flame. Low wing
walls carry spear railings and join end piers to 4 simple gate piers.
Pair of central carriage gates and flanked by smaller gates. All are
of spears with speared dogbars and some curved bracing. The Legh arms
are on the central piers.
