Cottage. Probably early C18. Painted coursed sandstone rubble
with slate roof. 2-room plan. 2 storeys. Large external stone
and stack to left with brick top stage and external brick end stack
to right. 2-window front; C19 two-light wooden casements; central
boarded door and C20 half-glazed gabled porch with door in right-hand
return front. One-storey lean-to addition to left with segmental-
headed 2-light casement to right and boarded door to left with gabled
hood. Interior not inspected but large open fireplace with chamfered
shallow triangular-headed lintel. A complete and well-preserved
example of a small C18 cottage. C. Ryan, The evolution of the peasant
