Sign post. 1800 for Second Lord Clive. Limestone with cast-iron
direction sheets. Circular section with 3 plain raised bands, square
base and domed cap. Metal band below cap holds 4 direction signs with
pierced lettering, reading "LUDLOW, BS. CASTLE, CLUNN, Cn. GUNFORD".
Late C20 metal inscription on base records that the post was erected in
1800 for Second Lord Clive, first Earl of Powis and has been moved from its
original position in the road nearby. B.O.E. p. 169.
