STADHAMPTON B480
SU69NW (South side)
Ascott
6/113 Garden wall approx. 10n. W of
Ascott Park Farmhouse

GV II

Garden wall. Possibly partly C16; partly later. Brick in English bond. Wall is
approx. 2.2 metres high and forms the eastern boundary of the former formal
gardens of Ascott Park. A rebuilt section is probably the site of the late C16
stone gateway and C18 wrought-iron gates now in the Victoria and Albert Museum.
(Ascott Park is included in the HBMC County Register of Gardens at Grade II;
V.C.H.: Oxfordshire, Vol.VII, p.121; F. Woodward: Oxfordshire Parks, 1982).
