Shop and printing works. Late C19 with C15 undercroft. Shop and printing
works:- Red brick ground floor, stucco and roughcast first floor. Plain
tile roof, 2 storeys. 3 bays plus carriage entry. C20 shopfront to left.
4-light mullion and transom windows at first floor and 'Elizabethan'
stucco decoration. Heavy box cornice. 4 dormers. Undercroft beneath
No. 48:- brick. Pointed barrel-vault section with apex parallel to
road. Large side-chamber with chamfered brick arch extending beneath
pavement. Smaller chamber on north wall. C20 east wall. The building is
graded II* because of the under-croft, one of an important group within
the City walls.
